At the our Thursday Night Live booth last week, we invited you to answer the question “How can we make Mountain View a better place for walking and biking?” We were amazed by your passionate and detailed descriptions of the street segments, crossings, and corners that need safety improvements. We’ve summarized your feedback below and will be making the results available to Mountain View’s Bicycle Pedestrian Committee, the Department of Public Works, and City Council. Please feel free to keep those suggestions coming by sending email to contactus@greatstreetsmv.org.

I was driving home on Middlefield Road at around 7pm last night. Saw some bicyclists braving that route. There were so much cars and construction equipment parked in the bike lane that that bicycling looked extremely unsafe, especially now that the sun is going down earlier. How can the city keep the bike lanes clear for bicycling?
Thanks for the comment Kylee. We will add that to our list of feedback that will be sent to City officials.
On California Street, I frequently see moving vans parked at the side of the road which forces cyclists into traffic. This is especially dangerous in the morning and evening when the sun gets in the eyes of drivers.
I may have missed this issue being addressed in the past… I am extremely concerned that with more residential homes = more pedestrians and cyclists, in the San Antonio shopping mall / Showers / California Ave area, the city needs to address adding more pedestrian lanes, warning lights, STOP signs etc on these streets ASAP! Thank you.
Since Kaiser is in our backyard (Castro St.), and they advocate healthy living i.e walking, biking, etc., do you think greatstreetsmv.org can partner with Kaiser to work with the city of MV to get more pedestrian/cyclist projects underway sooner than later?
